Love brings you home
By the time we were driving back to Indiana, things were rolling on the new house. The old house had been torn down, and the lot was ready for our new dream home.
It had not been an easy process. Deciding on the perfect house to build had been much more tedious than we had expected. We had looked through floor plan after floor plan after floor plan, but we just couldn’t find what we wanted. One day, while looking at homes on Pinterest, I found the front of a house that really spoke to me. I absolutely love it!
Something felt right about this one; the only problem was that although I loved the picture, the floor plans wouldn’t work for us at all. The look of this house was perfect, but the layout wasn’t. I took out a piece of graph paper that day and began to draw.
I knew we wanted a dining room and an open concept great room and kitchen; my hubby needed an office; I wanted a sitting area in the bedroom and a large walk-in closet. For the boys, I wanted them to have their own area upstairs, where the mess and noise could be away from the main part of the house. By the time my husband got home from work, I had the design drawn. I handed it to him and said, “What do you think?”

Of course, his enthusiasm was waning in comparison to mine,
but when he sat down and looked at it, he was excited too!! He loved the look
of the outside because it would look perfect next to my Grandparents’ (now my
parents’) barn. Inside, it had everything we wanted and needed, but not too much.
Every inch of this house would be used.
We spent the next week or so tweaking the sizes of the rooms and adding some closets, but overall, the original design never really changed. By the time we were moving back to Indiana, our floor plans were well on their way to being completed and we were ready to begin one of the most exciting journeys of our lives.

One day, shortly after we moved back, my mom and I were out
shopping and we saw a pillow that said, “Life Takes You To
Unexpected Places, but Love Brings You Home.” We both teared-up when we read it. My mom bought that pillow for me that day. It seemed to fit our story perfectly. Life did take my family to unexpected places, but it brought us right back where we were meant to be.
