I wish spring had sprung.

Life around here has been pretty crazy! I finally got around to taking the Easter décor down last week.  When it was put away, the house seemed lonely. It was also dusty…seriously, where did all the dust come from on and around everything???!!! The house needed some cheering up, especially since Spring seems to be having a lot of trouble springing this year. My favorite part of decorating is starting over with a clean slate.  After the Easter decorations were out of sight, I dusted, and then consolidated the things I had not packed away, and brought out a few new pieces to use.
After consolidating the old and new, I began the fun of accessorizing each area of my house. When I am in the middle of creating, I know I am doing what I am meant to do. The process makes my heart race and gives me this amazing jolt of energy. Even on my worst day, it makes me feel so much better to get my creative juices flowing. The old saying, “Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life," is so true. It took me 42 years to finally be able to do what I love fulltime, but it was worth the wait!
After being heavily decorated for Easter, I decided to go with something a little more minimalistic for spring.  Normally it takes me moving each item at least a dozen times, before I am finally satisfied with the results, but this time everything came together rather quickly.  I added in some beautiful faux peonies that I purchased on a whim from Amazon, and it really brought everything together!
On a side note…Did I mention that I won a giveaway?! I got a DM telling me I had won a gift card one morning. I was super excited thinking that maybe I had won $50. Then, message after message started rolling in congratulating me, and suddenly I realized that maybe it was more than $50. When I received the email that contained my $400 gift card from @thepaintedfox, I was over the moon with excitement. I was like a kid in a candy store as I went through page by page of their beautiful pieces. I ordered a few items for my spring decorations and a piece of framed art and a pillow for the bedroom. I haven’t received the items for my bedroom yet, but when I opened the box that contained everything else, I was in awe!
Here are pictures of the new spring décor:

This is one of favorite areas in the house. I will tell you more about why in a later blog. For spring, I kept the same wreath on the door (made by my friend Kerri) and took out the Easter Bunny. Then, I added some candlesticks and twine balls (also made by Kerri) and this amazing weathervane by @thepaintedfox, scattered a few peonies around, and it was  ready to go.

This is my entryway. It has some pieces with a lot of meaning. The buffet was the first piece of furniture my hubby and I bought together. The painting was done my husband's grandmother who was an amazingly talented artist. Then I added some OLD topiaries from Pottery Barn, these amazing pillar candle stands by Kerri, some of my mom's old textbooks, and these chicken wire pieces from @thepaintedfox and it was almost complete, except for these adorable miniature topiaries that were a surprise find at the Cleveland Clinic gift shop when we were visiting my mother-in-law.

I went very minimalistic in the dining room. After decorating heavily for Easter with table linens, greenery, and lots of bunnies, I needed a change. I used my favorite accessory piece, my Trojan horse as I call it, an oldie, but a goody from Pier 1 as my staple piece, Then I added some peonies, a twine ball and a galvanized watering can as a simple center piece. Oh and I can't forget the amazing beads made by my friend Tina over at @cottonandclover. These were custom made for me over a late night Instagram DM discussion while I was in a hotel room with my snoring hubby and sleeping kiddos on spring break. The "Family" symbol was perfect because family is truly everything to me...

This vignette is simple with a horse print from @ashandpaints, a spring bouquet, another twine ball, and some old textbooks that were a gift from my mom's stash of goodies in the basement. The wine bottle rack was a clearance find from Kirklands from many years ago! I love the little pops of color this space brings.
Last but definitely not least, my favorite thing to add to my spring décor is artwork done by Mother Nature. I love to add fresh flowers everywhere! They are such a gift and truly bring a home to life!

I hope you are having fun getting ready for spring as well! If you have any questions about my designs or any of the items I used, please feel free to DM me at @life_lovebringsyouhome or DM me on Facebook at Love Brings You Home by Rachelle.
